add brannock measures, esp. for arch length

In addition to adding self-measurements of feet in socks, why not add Brannock measures? I am not sure how you determine when feet size are similar, but I wear an 11.5D (with tongue cushions) and get recommendations from men in 9.5D and 10D. Yes my heel & instep girth is size 9.5 but my foot is longer and my heel to ball length is size 12 on the Brannock. No way I can wear a 10D without maiming myself. Sure my foot shape is not common but it seems that arch length is a important factor the site is leaving out.

I think this sounds like a good idea! Thank you.

Brannock is not that popular here in Europe, but adding it as an additional option may be helpful for all US members.

Establishing a similarity measure is, of course, a bit complicated. If I understand correctly, Brannock is standardized classification. Theoretically, you should be interested in all the fit ratings from members who share your Brannock size. Would this be something you'd think people were interested in?

Concerning the recommendated sizes: I've just re-calibrated the settings today, the changes will be live in the next 24 hours. Hopefully, you will get slightly better results, then.

Is foot length now a greater priority? I've gone from having recommendations that like millingcove would work for my heel, but were too short to getting no recommendations (which is more appropriate).

I think it could be a while before there are users who match my frog's flippers of feet :-)

I've not tried a Brannock device in years - they're not common in the UK.

Yeah, the first three measures now have a greater priority; in fact, they are probably over-emphasized. I'd need more data for a better analysis.

Concerning Brannock: I've never seen one of those in real life. But it looks like an easy way to establish some sort of "half a size down, one width up" recommendations for specific lasts -- at least, for US members.

A Brannock measurement is really just one more size data point. If you allow it as another type of personal measurement, won't the system just automatically take care of the comparisons? I like the idea of including it and was just thinking how to quickly incorporate in the system.

We've had the option to add Brannock measurements in earlier versions, but it wasn't used very much. Thus, it was removed, again.
